Inversion 2012: the road to London
20-08-2010

Sport is motion, passion, rivalry and friendship. It is exciting to watch top athletes. We share their pain, disappointment, and delerious joy. Our emotions are all the stronger if we know the athlete has overcome great difficulties. A swimmer has recovered from cancer. A tennis player is confined to a wheelchair.
Handicapped athletes deserve to be seen, and the public needs to know about their achievements. It is hard to understand why the mass media fail to cover them as fully as regular sports. Some handicapped men and women are at the top of their discipline and perform just as wel as top athletes without physical impairment. And even if they cannot compete with the champions in reguluar sports, Paralympians display a drive that is astonishing and admirable. This is what we want to show and celebrate in our documentary. Who are these athletes? Who are their coaches? Where do they live? What are the conditions in which they live and train?
We intend to make a documentary on five of these heroes with a handicap. All of these athletes perform on track and field.
The film will follow them on their way to the London Paralympics of 2012.
We have chosen one Paralympian from each continent. We will follow their preparations, report on their performance at the London Games and look at what happens afterwards. But reporting on sports is not our main objective. We want to tell, or rather show, the story behind these athletes.
What are the efforts they make in search of glory in London? How do they develop mentally, socially and as athletes? Do their dreams come true?
